Pension EntitlementThe Pension Scheme is an unfunded, defined benefits scheme that covers NHS employers, General Practices <strong>and</strong> other bodies,allowed under the direction of the Secretary of State in Engl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Wales.As a consequence it is not possible for the PCT to identify its share of the underlying scheme assets <strong>and</strong> liabilities. Therefore thescheme is accounted for as a defined contribution scheme <strong>and</strong> the cost of the scheme is equal to the contributions payable tothe scheme for the accounting period.The full accounting policy can be found on pages 10-11 of the full statement of accounts.
