Pension EntitlementThe Pension Scheme is an unfunded, defined benefits scheme that covers NHS employers, General Practices and other bodies,allowed under the direction of the Secretary of State in England and Wales.As a consequence it is not possible for the PCT to identify its share of the underlying scheme assets and liabilities. Therefore thescheme is accounted for as a defined contribution scheme and the cost of the scheme is equal to the contributions payable tothe scheme for the accounting period.The full accounting policy can be found on pages 10-11 of the full statement of accounts.
