The department maintains 17 parks and facilities,numerous programs for all ages and many facilities that provide resources for a widerange <strong>of</strong> activities.G. Related <strong>Plan</strong>ning Efforts and IntegrationThe <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Huntersville</strong> has undertaken several planning efforts in recent years thathave helped inform the planning process for this <strong>Parks</strong> and <strong>Recreation</strong> <strong>Master</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>.These plans and studies include:a. <strong>Huntersville</strong> <strong>Parks</strong> and <strong>Recreation</strong> <strong>Master</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> (1998, updated 2004)b. <strong>Huntersville</strong> Downtown <strong>Master</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> (2005)c. <strong>Huntersville</strong> Greenway and Bikeway <strong>Master</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> (2008)d. Mecklenburg County <strong>Parks</strong> and <strong>Recreation</strong> <strong>Master</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> (2008)e. <strong>Huntersville</strong> Community <strong>Plan</strong> (updated 2011)H. Methodology <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Plan</strong>ning ProcessThis project has been guided by a project team, made up <strong>of</strong> <strong>Town</strong> staff, focus groups andthe <strong>Parks</strong> and <strong>Recreation</strong> Commission. These teams provided input throughout theplanning process.Needs Assessment and Public Involvement• Review <strong>of</strong> previous planning efforts.• Consideration <strong>of</strong> the pr<strong>of</strong>ile <strong>of</strong> the community and demographics, includinganticipated population growth.• Extensive community involvement efforts including focus groups, meetings,surveys, community-wide public meetings and town board meetings.• Research <strong>of</strong> trends and statistics related to different programming needs.Level <strong>of</strong> Service Analysis• Analysis <strong>of</strong> current levels <strong>of</strong> service within the programming division• Analysis <strong>of</strong> current levels <strong>of</strong> service for parks and facilitiesInventory• Inventory <strong>of</strong> parks, trails and facilities.
