This park is <strong>Huntersville</strong>’s largest park. Thispark was jointly developed by the <strong>Town</strong> and Mecklenburg County. The <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Huntersville</strong>and the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> Davidson have a management and usage agreement that splits the usage andoperational expense between the two towns based on the population percentages. This park wasopened in April <strong>of</strong> 2009.Recent Improvements: The two playgrounds and Disc Golf Course were installed 2010.Dugout covers were installed in 2009. Two batting cages were installed in 2010. Trees wereinstalled in 2010 around the s<strong>of</strong>tball fields.Recommended Improvements: In the 2008 Mecklenburg County Park Bond package itincluded $2.95 million for the construction <strong>of</strong> three synthetic soccer fields and associatedamenities. Continue to add trees along the spectator areas near the s<strong>of</strong>tball fields. Installirrigation in common areas around the s<strong>of</strong>tball pavilion. Transportation planners alsorecommend that the county and town should make every effort to make the connection to RamahChurch Road from the park to serve as the park’s main entrance.Park <strong>Master</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> Status: This park has many future phases. Three additional soccer fieldsthat are identified in the 2008 County Park Bond, six tennis courts and associated facilities, twobaseball fields and football field with associated facilities, skate park, two basketball courts,multiple playgrounds, covered shelters and walking trails, a 5,000 sq ft. indoor shelter and a20,000sq ft. recreation center and a zero depth pool.Torrence Creek Elementary School Multipurpose RoomLocation: 14550 Ranson RoadApproximate Size: 4,000 sq. ft.Amenities:Half-sized gym with two permanent mainbasketball goals(1) stage(212) paved parking spaces………………………………………………………………………………………………………NOVEMBER 7, 201144
