7 Utility ProgramsThis chapter documents the following utility programs:• fot• hdrstrip.f90• sequnf.f90• tryblk.f90fotUsage:fot [file1] [file2]fot is a program that is used for converting files created by LF64, opened as CARRIAGE-CONTROL=’FORTRAN’, into a form suitable for printing. fot interprets the first characterof each line of file1 as a Fortran carriage control character to be used for printing, producinga file file2 in Linux format. The first character of each line of file1 causes the followingmodifications:blank: The blank is deleted, which causes the line to be printed with single spacing. Aline of all blanks is converted to a line with no characters.0: The character is changed to a new-line character, which causes the line to be printedwith double spacing.1: The character is changed to the new-page character, which causes the line to beprinted at the beginning of a new page.+: If it is the first line of a file, the character is deleted.
