EUR/SEK – near-term headwinds for the SEK• Growth. We see a gradual recovery over the course of2013. However, it appears the starting point wasweaker than we previously anticipated. We have loweredour Q1 GDP estimate (release 29 May) to well below theRiksbank’s (RB) forecast. A potential SEK negative eventin the weeks to come.• Monetary policy. The risk of a July rate cut hasincreased. Weak Q1 GDP might leave the RB with nochoice, especially if inflation does not spike higher againin May. Household debt and a substantially weaker SEKversus the RB’s forecast do not point towards a rate cut(cf. Norges Bank). On balance, we stick to unchanged fornow but will reconsider if data suggests otherwise.• Fundamentals. The fundamental backdrop, productivitygrowth, the current account, inflation and public financesare all SEK-supportive factors. Stable triple-A rating too.• Flows. High quality and commercial flows are likely to capthe upside in SEK crosses.• Valuation. From a fundamental viewpoint, the krona is notovervalued; depending on the model used, EUR/SEK iseither close to, or still higher than equilibrium.• Risks. Higher: 1) Negative Swedish macro, 2) July rate cut,3) Verbal interventions. Lower: 1) Positive Swedish macro,2) Nordea privatisation, 3) Negative ECB deposit rate.Stefan Mellin, Senior Analyst , mell@danskebank.com +46 (0)8 568 805 92Forecast: 8.40 (3M), 8.30 (6M) and 8.20 (12M)9.259.008.758.508.258.00EUR/SEK7.75May-12 Aug-12 Dec-12 Mar-13 Jun-13 Sep-13 Jan-14 Apr-1475% conf. int. 50% conf.int. Fundamentally, nothing has changedand therefore we stick to our medium-term view ofSEK appreciation. However, appreciation will comeslower than we thought – mainly (exclusively)because the Riksbank has signalled and is expectedto maintain low rates for longer than we previouslyenvisaged.www.danskebank.com/CI11
