All Ireland Traveller Health StudyEstimated Traveller PopulationThe Travellers count was based on the number of Traveller families enumerated at the census multipliedby the average family size. Further details on the rationale for the process and demographics areincluded in Technical Report 2. In ROI census, project coordinators returned field reports of anonymisedfamily codes with a comment on each code, indicating the status of the family, whether interviewedor not interviewed (because they moved, refused or were unavailable). In addition, on completionof the census fieldwork, each project completed a telephone interview confirming the numbers offamilies enumerated, response rate and number of files uploaded. The field report, the interview andthe uploaded files were used to corroborate the total family count in each project. To avoid doublecounting, during the 6-week census period those who had moved out of the island of Ireland were notenumerated as part of the study population and those who moved within the Island were enumeratedin the area to which they moved.
