Overall 40.8% in ROI and 50.4% in NI had ever been on thecontraceptive pill and this showed a strong age pattern, with the group most likely ever to be on thepill those in the 30-44 year age group (53.6% in ROI and 51.9% in NI). The pill was the most frequentlyemployed method in the last 12 months (39.4% in ROI and 44.1% in NI), followed by natural familyplanning (18.8% ROI and 32.3% NI) with very low rates of barrier methods (4.6% ROI and 2.2% NI).Notably around a quarter cited ‘other’ methods.Table 192: Have you ever been on the contraceptive pill?
