DONNINGDONNING THE FACEPIECE7. Check the FirehawkRegulator’s bypassoperation. Grasp thered knob and turn itcounter-clockwise.Listen for airflow andthen turn it to the offposition.8. Fully close the cylinder valve.9. Listen for air leaks and watch the pressure gauge anddisplay on the FireHawk M7 Control Module for 10seconds.Note: A nosecup is always required for use with this airmask.A nosecup must be installed in the facepiece. Failureto follow this warning can result in serious personalinjury or death.Note: Before donning, ensure that the Firehawk Regulatorsealing ring is seated properly in its groove on the outletof the regulator and that it is not torn, gouged, or nicked.DO NOT use the air mask if the pressure drops morethan 100 psi in ten seconds, The air mask must berepaired; otherwise, reduced service life may result.1. Loosen all the harnessstraps. Grip the bottomstraps.10. Crack the Firehawk Regulator bypass valve slowly tobleed off pressure until the FireHawk M7 HUD andFireHawk M7 Control Module displays drop below:530 psi-approximately (2216 psi system)750 psi-approximately (3000 psi system)1125 psi-approximately (4500 psi system)At these pressures the FireHawk M7 HUD should displaya flashing red LED, the Audi-Larm Alarm should ring continuously,and the alarm button on the FireHawk M7Control Module and the buddy lights on the FireHawk M7Power Module should be flashing red.2. Insert chin into thelower part of facepiece,then pull the harnessback over the head.11. When the system pressure falls below 200 psi, turnthe FireHawk M7 Control Module off by depressingthe reset button (yellow) two times within approximatelyone second.DO NOT use the air mask if the Audi-Larm Alarm failsto ring or fails to continuously ring down to pressuresof 200 psi, or if the FireHawk M7 Control Module orFireHawk M7 HUD fails to light properly. The air maskmust be checked and corrected for proper operationby an MSA trained or certified repairperson beforeusing. Failure to follow this warning can result in seriouspersonal injury or death.3. Pull the back of harnessdownward untilcentered at the back ofthe head.Note: The FireHawk M7 HUD will automatically turn itselfOFF approximately 60 seconds after the air mask hasbeen depressurized. DONNINGtest again. If this does not correct the leak, donot use the facepiece.4. Tighten the two lowerstraps first by pullingthem straight back, notout. Tighten the facepieceuntil the mask issnug against the face.2. Test the exhalation valve.a. Take a deep breath and hold it.b. Block the facepiece inlet adapter with the palm ofthe hand and exhale. If the exhalation valve is stuck,a heavy rush of air around the facepiece may benoticed. A sharp exhalation of air may be needed toopen the valve. If this does not release the valve, donot use the facepiece.5. Tighten the two sidetemple straps in thesame manner asdescribed in step 4.Ensure that the facepiecetabs are nottucked under the faceseal.This device may not seal properly to the face if abeard, gross sideburns or similar physical characteristics(see NFPA-1500 and ANSI Z88.2) exist. An improperfacial seal may allow contaminants to leak into thefacepiece, reducing or eliminating respiratory protection.Do not use this device if such conditions exist.The face-to-facepiece seal must be tested beforeeach use. Never remove the facepiece except in asafe, non hazardous non-toxic atmosphere. Failure tofollow this warning can result in serious personalinjury or death.6. Ensure the back of theharness is centered onthe back of the headand that the facepieceseal provides uniformpressure on the face atall points. Readjust thestraps if needed.3. Open the cylinder valvefully. Push in on theside buttons of theFirehawk Regulator tostop air flow.FACEPIECE FIT CHECKNote: Check the inhalation valve by inhaling. If the facepiecedoes not provide sufficient flow of air, do not usefacepiece. The facepiece must be repaired or replaced.1. Check facepiece fit,a. Hold the palm of thehand over the facepieceinlet adapter.b. Take a deep breathand hold it for atleast 10 seconds.The facepieceshould collapse andstay collapsedagainst the face.
