Winner ofthe 2004 Otto Oortmanprize for progressive composition.Radio-Lines is a short piece for flute, clarinet, and double bass. A rhythmic drive and steadypulse dominates the entire movement.George Lam, B.M., Boston University. George is currently a masters degree student at thePeabody Conservatory of Music, studying composition and music theory pedagogy. Georgehas studied composition with Christopher Theofanidis, Nicholas Maw, Charles Fussell, andMartin Amlin.David Witmer is a composition student at the Peabody Conservatory. Mr. Witmer iscurrently studying with Dr. Christopher Theofanidis.About the Twenty-Four Hour Concert (24hc)24hc is a concert with music that is composed, rehearsed, and performed within a 24-hourperiod. Composers are assigned a small ensemble for which they must compose a piece ofmusic within twelve hours, where each ensemble’s size and instrumentation were decided bydrawing first a number and then names from a hat. In the twelve-hour period that followsthe drawing, each composer must produce a fully-notated composition specifically writtenfor their own ensemble. Once the twelve-hour time period has elapsed, the compositions arehanded over to the ensembles, who have twelve hours to practice and prepare thecompositions for performance.
