Early yes, bright no – withthe alarm set for 4am there was nochance of that. So our coach trip to Parisgot off to a quiet start. We drove to the Eurotunnel terminalwhere the coach boarded a train toCalais. After negotiating the Parisiantraffic following the long run to Paris, thecoach dropped us near to our three-starhotel and we were left to do some localsightseeing before finding a restaurant. After a good breakfast on the Sundaywe decided to see asmuch of Paris as wecould in a day, firstheading to the EiffelTower, where the viewswere fantastic, andthen for a guided tripon the river Seine.Having found that museums werefree on the first Sunday of every month, the Louvre was a must. The size of themuseum was hard to believe, and althoughwe only had time to see a small part wemade sure we saw the Mona Lisa. Thiswas followed the next day with a ratherrainy trip to the Sacré Coeur. Then we headed back to the coach andon towards the train. A very enjoyable timeTrudy – when’s the next one?The Eiffel Towerand Sacré Coeurcouldn’t be missedMiscellany Winter 2010 15
