Grantsto a maximum of £1,000are considered, andpast beneficiariesinclude members whosehouses were damagedby the floods in thesummer of 2007.150thAnniversaryEducationalAward fundThis is formembers whoare enteringinto highereducation ortraining for an apprenticeship. Acurrent grant of £220 per year isavailable. Their expeditionwill include walking throughrainforests and the sacred PhnomKulen mountains before reachingthe famous temple at Angkor Wat.Rita is walking in memory ofher husband John, who died ofcancer two years ago. To sponsorRita, contact Ashley Stammers on01206 211 391 or email him ataofcourt5432@btconnect.com.Rewarding the greenest pupilCourt ‘Loyal Brethren’ in Wickham,Hampshire, has teamed up with WickhamChurch of England Primary School toreward the pupil who has done the most forthe environment each year.The Environmental Cup has been donated incommemoration of <strong>Foresters</strong> <strong>Friendly</strong> <strong>Society</strong>’s175th anniversary, and the fact that there has beena <strong>Foresters</strong> branch in Wickham for over 160 years.It will be presented for the first time in July 2010, andeach year the winning pupil will also receive a smallreplica cup and a book token, which will be providedby the branch.The school has 170 pupils aged from five to 11,and it was attended by the current secretary of Court‘Loyal Brethren’, who is now 80.£60,000 raised for MNDFrom dunking strawberries in chocolate fountains to sponsoredwalks across the country, your activities have helped to raise anamazing total of £60,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND)Association. The charity was Past High Chief RangerPat Swadling’s chosen cause for his year in office.The money raised willsponsor the MNDAssociation’stelephone helplineuntil the endof 2010, buyspecialistequipment,and help fund aPhD student’sresearch intothe disease.Pat would like tothank everyoneinvolved in raising<strong>this</strong> brilliant amount.Well done to all of thosewho helped to raisesuch a magnificent sumCommunity 29alamy
