UNSW <strong>Cricket</strong> <strong>Club</strong> Annual ReportCoaching Report6. Future Focal PointsAs the UNSWCC moves forward from season <strong>2008</strong>/<strong>09</strong>, the lessons learned from this and earlierseasons and, accordingly some <strong>of</strong> the key focal points for our club and coaching programs, are:• Providing greater structure to mid‐week training sessions for 3rd to 6th grade players.• Continuing the development and roll‐out <strong>of</strong> the mentoring system for younger players.And various focal points from prior years that remain relevant at the end <strong>of</strong> season <strong>2008</strong>/<strong>09</strong>:• Devise and implement better programs <strong>of</strong> mental preparedness/cricket psychology input forplayers as part <strong>of</strong> the pre‐season program and, if necessary, extend into the season proper.• Devise, implement and enforce a more structured in‐season fitness regime.• Ensure a more structured program <strong>of</strong> attendance at trainings by “expert” coaches to add toand compliment the current coaching input.• Better formalise player specific coaching/development plans and consistent use <strong>of</strong> video andassociated s<strong>of</strong>tware analysis to enhance player feedback, understanding and direction.• At a more broad cricket level, continue to promote and run Junior <strong>Cricket</strong> Coaching camps inrelevant school holidays to be coached by 1st Grade players (men and women) and UNSWCCcoaching staff and to be open to ALL cricketers <strong>of</strong> any ability aged 6‐18 years.UNSWCC COACHING TEAMAt the 20<strong>09</strong> UNSW Blues Dinner Darren Sue (centre) was rewarded for his years <strong>of</strong> service to theclub with the <strong>University</strong> presenting him with a Sports Recognition Award.
