First Grade ReportUNSW Cricket Club Annual Reportguy has the ability to achieve higher honours.Stuart McKay ‐ Finchy’s attitude and passion for the club is world class. If I want anyone to besuccessful in first grade it’s Stu Mac. Played some important digs throughout the season.Murray Creed ‐ It’s an absolute pleasure to play cricket with this guy. Can’t wait to see morehundreds at the Village Green from Muzza.Blake Dean ‐ Deano showed he has real ability with the bat. In his first season of grade cricket hemade almost 500 runs. Number one trainer at the club. If he keeps up this attitude I’m sure we aregoing to see big things from this guy.Cameron Stewart ‐ Big Red arrived at the club mid season from Melbourne. Very experienced playerand a great pick up for the club. Looking forward to working with him over the next few seasons.Tight left arm finger spin is a great asset for the team.Sam Crichton ‐ Was the best bowler the last month of the season. Showing some real improvementwith the ball. Hard hitting batsmen and with a bit more experience he will be a key player with bothbat and ball in the coming seasons.Timm Van Der Gugten ‐ ‘The Bull’ had a slow start to the year with injury but ended the season thebest bowler for us. The big quick is a real prospect with the ball but with some extra work on hisbatting could develop into a genuine allrounder.Richard Nikolovski ‐ The big Macedonian did a great job with the gloves. Always did his best toencourage his team when things become tough. Claimed 26 catches and 2 stumpings.Brendon Small ‐ Smally was solid with both bat and ball this season. Four poles against his formerclub St George was a sweet moment for him this year. A stress fracture in his back ended his seasonprematurely.James McNeil ‐ Jimmy got his first taste of the top grade. Was impressive for a young kid that hasonly played a hand full of grade games. With continued hard work on his leg spinners, James willdevelop into a very exciting cricketer. Brilliant in the field.Ryan Medley ‐ Med’s had a difficult start to the year. Showed real character after being dropped tosecond grade. Came back strongly late in the season in firsts with both the bat and his leg spinners. Will have an important role to play in the coming seasons in first grade.Ben Wakim ‐ Wako had limited chances in first grade. But with the innings he played looked right athome. A real player of the future.Ross Lyons ‐ Our Scottish import did a great job for the team with his left arm finger spin. Was asuper bloke to have around the club. Hope to see more of Rossy at the club in the future.Hugh Le Lievre‐ Huge Levers always puts in 110%. A real competitor on the cricket field. AlthoughHugh won’t be with us next season as he pursues his career in medicine, on behalf of the club I willlike to wish him all the best with his future studies. Hugh mate, you will be sorely missed around theclub. However the door is always open for you at the club if you decide to make a comeback!Wil Lindsay ‐ Wilbur played a handful of games early on in the season. Has the potential to play a lotmore first grade cricket in the future. Great trainer and a really good bloke to boot.Joshua Webb ‐ Spider had limited chances in first grade this season, however with more hard workon his batting and finger spin I am certain he will develop into a successful first grader!Mitchell O’Connor ‐ Mocca was back to the club this season, after a short break from cricket. Heshowed glimpses of his best, with a fine half century against Northern Districts a standout. Howeverdue to work commitments he was unable to finish off the season with the club. Hope to see Moccaback next season.Page 28 Season 2008/2009
