Sixth Grade ReportUNSW Cricket Club Annual Reportcommendably throughout the season and played a few cameos with the bat, leading to his selection in5th grade. Naser Saleh, scored consistently after making his debut half century, and finished the seasonwith a well constructed 64 in the last match. His fielding also improved over the course of the seasonand with sustained hard work he will continue to develop. Luke Williams made the most of hisopportunities with the bat, averaging 83.5 in 6th grade to pick up the best batsman award for the seasondespite playing the latter half in 5th grade. Ravin and Amalesh both made significant contributionswith bat and ball with the former undisputedly the bowler of the season for 6th grade. Both players alsofilled in as captain at some stage during the season and demonstrated great leadership qualities. Othernotable contributions came from Faraz Syed, Buddhika Wickramaratna and Sabeh Hassan who allmade useful contributions with the bat and in the field throughout the season. Mathew Mifsud bowledextremely tight and picked up crucial wickets in the limited opportunities he was given. It was great to see all the boys enjoy the performances of their peers even when their own performancesmay not have been the best. Carrying forward these aspects of teamwork into next season will no doubtput this young team in good stead for next season as there is no shortage of talent, ability anddetermination amongst all the players.BIKRAM KARMAKARMATCH SUMMARIES – 6 TH GRADE (METROPOLITAN CUP)Rd Venue LO Inns of: Score Ov Inns of: Score Ov1 Whalan 2 * Blacktown 7/224 50 UNSW 193 48.2Hettiarachchi,Ravin M 3/44 10 Hettiarachchi,Ravin M 52* (70)Sukumar,Amalesh S K 3/51 10 Sukumar,Amalesh S K 42 (87)Williams,Luke J 1/32 8 Mifsud,Matthew 24 (43)Result:Loss on first innings (0 points)2 David Phillips * UNSW SydneySouthResult:No Result (0 points) - (Gold) Washed Out3 David Phillips * UNSW 148 41.3 Penrith 4/151 32South Jagot,Thomas A 41 (93) Mifsud,Matthew 1/11 3Williams,Luke J 36* (63) Karmakar,Bikram P 1/12 2Shorey,Prateek 22 (34)Result:Loss on first innings (0 points)4 St.Pauls Sydney University 283 67.3 UNSW 7/284 91.5College Sukumar,Amalesh S K 6/78 17.3 Saleh,Naser 66 (200)Hettiarachchi,Ravin M 2/83 19 Dooley,Robert A 37 (100)Williams,Luke J 1/19 8 Mostafa,Naeef 30* (90)Williams,Luke J 30* (39)Result:Won on first innings (6 points)5 Whalan 2 UNSW 149 70.1 Blacktown 3/151 51Mostafa,Naeef 37 (110) Hettiarachchi,Ravin M 2/48 12Karmakar,Bikram P 25 (82)Hassan,Sabeh U 25 (76)Result:Loss on first innings (0 points)6 David Phillips Randwick-Petersham 9/303 d. 75.2 UNSW 244 53.1South Taylor,Lachlan R 3/37 13 Atallah,Thomas G 60 (50)Hettiarachchi,Ravin M 3/51 13 Mark,Julian C 56 (106)Sukumar,Amalesh S K 41 (51)Result:Loss on first innings (0 points) - (Gold)7 Jubilee Oval UNSW 6/270 60 Sydney 167 44.1Sukumar,Amalesh S K 62 (110) Hettiarachchi,Ravin M 4/30 6.1Hettiarachchi,Ravin M 56 (108) Parsons,Eriq L 3/31 10Whitton,Thomas B 43* (50) McAnespie,Jack A E 2/19 6Mostafa,Naeef 26 (29)Result: Won on first innings (6 points) - (Gold) Washed Out Day 1, 120 Over match Day 2Page 64 Season 2008/2009
