Quality Management ManualVersion: 3 of 14.04.2004 Page 25 of 496.3 Infrastructure of material resources6.3.1 Buildings and supply facilitiesBased on the strategic development plans of the corporate management, locations, buildings andutilities are being planned by the Construction Management Department, by external engineers, bythe company’s maintenance group or by subsidiaries that are going to use the facilities later.Appropriate laws and regulations like operational safety, etc. are taken into account. The companymanagement approves the project after confirming its efficiency and conformity with the pursuedobjectives. The Construction department is responsible for coordination and implementation of theapproved planning. The documentation is done by factory layout plans and project plans.The PERI-unit using the facility is responsible for maintaining and preserving the buildings andsupply facilities. They propose required actions in accordance with regulations for purchasing andinvestments (VII-IV-01 and VII-IV-02). The Construction Department or the Company MaintenanceGroup coordinate these actions with the help of external or internal services.6.3.2 Process equipmentThe respective person in charge of the process is responsible for the planning of processequipment. The person in charge of the process consults the Construction Department forstructural changes and office workplaces during the planning process. The safety engineer givesadvices on environmental and industrial safety. The safety engineer checks the safety ofimplemented planning using risk analyses in accordance with the industrial safety act and otherprevailing regulations.Any type of purchasing is governed by regulations in the purchasing descriptions VII-IV-01 andpurchasing capital goods VII-IV-02.6.3.3 Supporting servicePlans and their implementation are supported by expert teams and departments like ProductionPlanning, Time Management and Equipment Engineering if required.The Industrial and Environmental Safety and Health Protection Department is involved the use ofchemicals and disposal of any kind of materials in case of statutory environmental procedures.The Company Maintenance Group along with the Fire Prevention Officer are consulted in case ofany queries regarding fire prevention.
