(designated by Leistikow, 2001c).
Locality: Ecuador, Baños, Doline de la grotte de Baños,
2300 m, humus (leg. N. Leleup, iv.1965).

Remarks: Vandel (1968) introduced the name Colombophiloscia
to include 3 species; since he did not designate
a type species, this name is unavailable according to ICZN
Art. 13.3. Leistikow (2001c) attempted to validate the
name by chosing a type species, and wrote that for Colombophiloscia
romanorum Vandel, 1981, probably a new
genus needs to be established. Unfortunately he overlooked
that the genus name Colombophiloscia Vandel,
1981 was valid, and in fact the three species included
by Vandel (1968) need a new genus name.

Type species: Colomboscia cordillerae Vandel,
1972a (m).
Localities: Colombia: Resina, village on the west
slope of the east cordillera, between Altamira
and Florencia (Caquetà), ca. 35 km NNW from
Florencia, 1800 m (village) to 2300 m (pass),
montane forest (� lectotype [designated by
Taiti, Allspach & Ferrara 1995], 1 �, 2 �,
paralectotypes, leg. H. Sturm, 08.vi. 1956,
MNHN-CV); Paramo de Chisaquá, ca. 40 km
SSW of Bogotá, 3400-3640 m, Espeletia
grandifolia, 25.vi.1968, leg. Sturm (syntypes).

Remarks: Transferred from Bathytropidae to
Scleropactidae by Taiti, Allspach & Ferrara
(1995), who revised the genus and included
the type species, one new species and one
unnamed species.

Remarks: The type species was described under
the genus name Cerberoides, but Jackson did
not designate a type species for that genus,
thus the name Cerberoides is unavailable according
to ICZN Art. 13.3. It is replaced by
the subgenus name, which therefore “automatically”
is raised to generic rank.

Unavailable name (synonym of Periscyphis Gerstaecker,
1873).
Type species: Not designated, not available (ICZN Art.
13.3.).
Species originally included:
1. Periscyphis civilis Budde-Lund, 1908b: East Africa: Witu
Islands, Patta Is. (6 syntypes, leg. Voeltzkow, 18.ii.1903,
ZMB 12320); same data (1 �, 2 � syntypes, BMNH
1921:10:18:1291-1295).
2. Periscyphis vittatus Omer-Cooper, 1926: “French Somaliland,
Obock” (� holotype and 6 � paratypes, leg. ?,
BMNH 1921:10:18:1354-1359).
Distribution: East Africa.
Remarks: Verhoeff (1942d) instituted this genus for the two
species Periscyphis civilis Budde-Lund, 1908 b and Periscyphis
vittatus Omer-Cooper, 1926 without designating
a type species. Taiti, Ferrara & Allspach (1997) listed
these species under the genus name Periscyphis.
