College libraries vary greatly in theircoverage of law books in general, and the texts appropriate to the LLM in particular. It is notusual for college libraries to provide specialist materials but you are likely to find yourcollege library useful in providing copies of the principal English law reports and legalperiodicals. Please note that you may only use the library of your own college.4. THE CAMBRIDGE LAW JOURNALThe Cambridge Law Journal, one of the world’s foremost academic law journals, ispublished three times a year by the Faculty of Law. Subscriptions to the CLJ are availableat reduced rates to LLM students.As well as publishing articles on a variety of legal topics, every edition of the CLJ alsoincludes a substantial ‘Case and Comment’ section, containing notes on recent cases,which are often written by specialists within the Faculty of Law. Many LLM students findthese notes particularly valuable as a source of information and commentary on recentdevelopments.Every year the CLJ publishes ‘Notes for Contributors’ in its November issue. In addition toestablishing the CLJ’s house style, this is regarded more widely as a definitive statement ofgood practice in legal writing. Many LLM students, especially those who have notpreviously studied in England, find this (and the articles published in the CLJ) to be a usefulguide to English legal style.5. STUDENT CONSULTATIONFaculty Board RepresentationIt is the policy of the Faculty of Law to allow its students opportunities to express their viewsand to make suggestions concerning its courses. Student representatives attend meetingsof the Faculty Board of Law, the Faculty’s principal decision-making body. Elections will beheld in November to appoint a graduate representative to the Faculty Board, in which LLMstudents are eligible to stand. Further information concerning the election will be posted inOctober.LLM Student QuestionnaireAt the end of every academic year all LLM students are invited to complete an anonymousquestionnaire concerning the course. The Faculty attaches great importance to the resultsof this questionnaire, which are used as the basis for improving and refining the course.We would therefore be very grateful if you were able to complete the questionnaire, whichwe will circulate in Easter Term.6
