Harlem Wizards
There will be some basketball
wizardry on display as the Harlem
Wizards hit the hardwood for a
charity fundraiser basketball game at
the Old Rochester Regional High
School gymnasium on Monday,
November 5. The game is being
organized by the Village PTA of
Wareham to raise money to benefit
students at the Minot Forest and East
Wareham schools. Darien Fernandez,
a Wareham High School Varsity
basketball player who had been
featured on ESPN’s top plays of the
day, has agreed to play on the
Wareham Warriors team against the
Harlem Wizards.
The game is slated to tip off at 7
p.m., with the doors opening at 6:30
p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and
senior citizens, and $12 for adults in
advance, and $12 and $14 at the door.
For over 50 years, the Harlem
Wizards have been combining
amazing basketball talent with
hilarious comedy. The athleticism,
tricks, fancy teamwork and ballhandling
wizardry, plus wild dunks
not even seen in NBA games, engages
and wows the most avid hoops fans
but provides a memorable night of
entertainment even for those rare few
who don’t enjoy the game of
basketball. Whether you come for the
competition or you come for the
comedy, there’s something for every -
one at a Wizards game. Plus, the game
will feature non-stop interaction
between the Wizards and the crowd,
and the players will stay until every
last autograph is signed.
The Wizards will square off against
the “Wareham Warriors,” comprised
of teachers, students and other
notable personalities from the
Gateway. The team will feature
Wareham High School basketball
coach and ORR Middle School
principal Kevin Brogioli; gym
teachers from Wareham elementary
and middle schools – Deanna Semple,
Chris Phenix, and Chris Perry; coach
Megan Kashner, Ms. Remillard from
Minot Forest, and many more!
There will be concessions, the
Harlem Wizards souvenir stand, a
raffle, and much more.

Humane Soc Gala
The Humane Society and Shelter
SouthCoast 10th Annual Gala on
Saturday November 3 celebrates
over 100 years and another success -
ful year of caring for homeless and
helpless animals.
Guests will enjoy dancing under
the tent to the delightful music of
Butch McCarthy band. The caterer
will be Russell Morin Fine catering of
Attleboro and the cocktails from CV
Variety will make sure all guest’s
essentials are met. As in the past the
event offers sponsorship opportuni -
ties and the Committee is looking for
silent auction items. The silent
auction begins at 6:00 pm
participants have until 9:00 pm to
enter their bids. The items include
trips, meals to fabulous local
restaurants, day sails and more. The
fun continues from 9 to 11 for a funfilled
evening.
The Shelter continues to provide
professional care for abandoned and
stray animals, adoptions, and
advocate for humane treatment of
animals. The Shelter offers adoptions
for cats and dogs, boarding for dogs,
training classes, and grooming. The
building is handicapped accessible.
The Gala will be held at 31 Ventura
Drive, No Dartmouth. Price for the

Municipal Energy Efficiency
Seminar Nov. 8, 8:30-1 Woodland

A number of programs are
available to help cities and towns
become more energy efficient in their
buildings, street lights, vehicles and
public works operations. In 2011,
approximately 90 municipalities
worked with Mass Save to
collectively reduce enough energy to
power the equivalent of 3,500 homes
and enough natural gas to heat more
than 400 homes.

and Environmental Affairs Rich
Sullivan. Municipal panelists include
officials from Fairhaven, Lakeville,
and Marshfield.
Transportation Mtg
The Mass. Department of Trans -
por tation is continuing its series of
statewide public meetings, engaging
with residents, community leaders
and business owners to discuss the
future of transportation in Mass. To
ensure that all regions are
represented, MassDOT will hold more
than 15 meetings.
Representatives from each
division of MassDOT – RMV, Highway,
Aeronautics and MBTA/Rail and
Transit – will be available to answer
questions and provide information.
