The first of the two themedissues of <strong>SCUP</strong>’s journal will examine both the evolvinguniversity student <strong>and</strong> their rapidly changing learning <strong>and</strong>living experience. This issue focuses on key questionsabout student lifestyle, influence of technology, <strong>and</strong> theimpact on a learning experience design perspective. Inaddition, the fall 08 issue (October – December) willcontain: A Tribute to Achievement <strong>and</strong> Excellence, the<strong>SCUP</strong> annual awards <strong>for</strong> individuals, as well as, awards<strong>for</strong> excellence in campus planning, l<strong>and</strong>scape, <strong>and</strong>architecture. In the winter 09 issue (January – March), thefocus will be on student related programs <strong>and</strong> facilities.The journal investigates how higher education institutionsare responding to these changes. Also, the winter issuewill include current <strong>SCUP</strong> Trends.Regional NewsThe Southern <strong>and</strong> North Central regions have been busyfinalizing the details <strong>for</strong> their regional conferences comingup in October <strong>and</strong> November. If you haven’t signed up yet,you still have time. Don’t miss out!If you’re interested in attending the first step of <strong>SCUP</strong>’s<strong>Planning</strong> Institute, now is your chance. Step I of theplanning institute will be held in conjunction with bothregional conferences this fall as well as the regionalconferences in spring 2009.<strong>SCUP</strong> <strong>Planning</strong> InstituteThe <strong>SCUP</strong> Professional Development Committee (PDC)has been working to further refine the curriculum of the<strong>SCUP</strong> <strong>Planning</strong> Institute. The change will be reflected inthe January 2009 offerings of Step II <strong>and</strong> III in Tempe, AZ.If you’ve already taken Step I (or Step I <strong>and</strong> II) of theinstitute, we invite you to join us in Tempe, where we willbe offering both Step II <strong>and</strong> III.Who can say “no” to a trip to Arizona in the middle of<strong>SCUP</strong> Member News 16 August 2008
