<strong>Frequently</strong> <strong>Asked</strong> <strong>Questions</strong> (<strong>FAQ</strong>)Booking and Purchasing1) When can I book the Apple iPhone 3GS?The booking starts from 15 th July 2009 at 9:00am until 7 th August 2009 at11:59pm.2) Can I book even if I am not a <strong>Maxis</strong> customer?If you are not a <strong>Maxis</strong> customer, you must first subscribe to a <strong>Maxis</strong> postpaidprincipal line. Visit any <strong>Maxis</strong> Centre or MEP Outlet to subscribe.3) I am an existing <strong>Maxis</strong> mobile customer. Can I book?Yes, but only if you are a <strong>Maxis</strong> postpaid principal line subscriber.Supplementary line subscribers are not eligible to book online. EBD/SMECorporate account or Corporate plan subscribers will need to contact theircompany’s <strong>Maxis</strong> Corporate Account Manager for assistance. To subscribe to anew <strong>Maxis</strong> Postpaid Principal Line, please go to any <strong>Maxis</strong> Centre or MEPOutlet.4) I am a Hotlink user. Can I book an iPhone 3GS?Yes, you can. Please visit our <strong>Maxis</strong> website(http://www.maxis.com.my/iphone3GS) to book your iPhone 3GS.5) I am currently on an existing <strong>Maxis</strong> Value Plan/supplementary plans.Can I maintain my plan and still get the iPhone 3GS?Yes, you can do so by subscribing to the iData offer.6) I currently have a my<strong>Maxis</strong> Phone Deal contract with <strong>Maxis</strong>. Can Ibook an iPhone 3GS?To be eligible for a booking, you must have:i. Three (3) months or under to fulfill a twelve (12) months my <strong>Maxis</strong> PhoneDeal contractii. Five (5) months or under to fulfill a twenty four (24) months my <strong>Maxis</strong>Phone Deal contract7) How many units can I book?A maximum of two (2) units only per NRIC/Passport/Police/Military no. Eachcustomer can only have two (2) contracts with <strong>Maxis</strong> at a time.8) Can I purchase an iPhone 3GS from a <strong>Maxis</strong> Centre or MEP Outlet?Customers who have not made an online booking will only be able topurchase an iPhone 3GS after the online booking collection period on 31 st July2009 onwards. Offers and stocks are subject to availability. Only customerswith confirmed online bookings have an iPhone 3GS reserved for them.iPhone Plans1


1) What plans can I choose when I choose an iPhone 3GS?We have iValue Plans (iValue 1/2/3/4) that are specially tailored for theiPhone 3GS. You may also consider any of the following plans:a. Value Plans (Value Plan 50/80/150/250/500) with iData offersb. Value Plus Plans(Value Plus 50/80/ 150/ 250) with iData offersc. Family Plus Plan (Family Plus 30/50) with iData offersd. Family Plan (Family Plan 30/50) with iData offers2) What will happen if I terminate my iPhone 3GS contract before mycontract period is over?An early termination fee will be imposed. Customers will still need to pay forthe remaining months of their contract period. Other contract terms andconditions apply.3) Can I switch from one Value Plus Plan to another Value Plus Plan?Yes, you can switch. However should you have a contract in the previousplan, there will be an early termination penalty should you downgrade to alower Value Plus plan.4) If I use more data than what’s offered under the Value Plus Planpackages, is it cheaper to take an iValue plan?In comparison, the iValue plans provides value-for-money for data ascompared to taking up a Value Plus Plan package.Pick-Up1) When can I collect the iPhone 3GS?Your iPhone 3GS can be collected on 31 st July 2009 onwards from thedesignated <strong>Maxis</strong> centre or MEP outlet which you have paid the deposit to.2) Do I need to produce anything to collect my iPhone3G S?Yes. Please bring along your NRIC/Passport/Police/Military identification andprebooking deposit official receipt for collection of your iPhone 3GS.3) If I do not collect my unit during the appointed collection date, can Istill purchase one at a later date?Sir/madam, we will hold the stock for you for a duration of fourteen (14) daysfrom your appointed collection date. 1) Why must I pay? What happens to my pre-booking deposit?The RM 200 pre-booking deposit is to confirm your online bookingregistration. The amount will be used to minus off from your total iPhone 3GSunit price according to your selected package. Should you choose a packagewhereby the iPhone 3GS unit price is less than RM 200 (8GB model, iValue 4,24 months contract), your deposit will be rebated to your phone bill.2) When should I pay? Do you accept credit card/cash/cheque?Please make your payment within five (5) days from your booking submissiondate or 7 th August 2009, whichever is earlier. We only accept cash or creditcard.3) Where can I make the pre-booking deposit payment?Please make your payment at our participating <strong>Maxis</strong> centres and MEP outletswithin five (5) days from your booking submission date or 7 th August 2009,whichever is earlier.4) Is the deposit refundable?Sir/madam, we are sorry, the deposit is non-refundable.4) What happens if I decide to cancel my booking?If you have made a payment, your deposit will not be refunded. However, ifyou have not made any payment, your booking will be considered void afterfive (5) days from your booking submission date or 7 th August 2009,whichever is earlier.5) What if I miss my appointed collection date and fourteen (14) daysthereafter?Sir/madam, we are sorry, the deposit is non-refundable. Therefore, westrongly encourage you to collect your device on the appointed collectiondate.6) If I decide not to collect my iPhone 3GS, will I get my depositrefunded to me?Sir/madam, we are sorry, the deposit is non-refundable.Pre-booking Reference Number1) I have lost my pre-booking reference number, how do I retrieve it?With your mobile number and email address, you can retrieve your prebookingreference number from http://www.maxis.com.my/iphone3GS whenclicking on “Resend Confirmation Email” link located at the bottom of thepage.2) I did not bring my pre-booking reference number, can you help?Please walk in to your preferred <strong>Maxis</strong> centres and we will reprint a copy foryou.iPhone 3GS3


1) Will the SIM be locked to <strong>Maxis</strong>?No, the SIM is not locked to any network. However, the handset will be presetto the <strong>Maxis</strong> network. Phones not connected to the <strong>Maxis</strong> network will not besupported by <strong>Maxis</strong>.2) Will my iPhone 3GS work with other non-<strong>Maxis</strong> operators?Sir/madam, it may work but we cannot guarantee the same iPhone 3GSexperience when the iPhone 3GS is used on other non-<strong>Maxis</strong> operators.However, we can guarantee that the iPhone 3GS will work with <strong>Maxis</strong>network.3) If I have a problem with my iPhone 3GS, where should I go?For general troubleshooting, customers can call 1800 82 1123 for assistance.Standard Apple Warranty applies, for more warranty details go tohttp://www.apple.com/iphone. We will not honour warranty of any iPhone3GS not purchased from <strong>Maxis</strong>.4
