HumanExcellence is conceptualized as a composite of academicformation and personal formation. Education is a key factorin determining one's attitudes and outlook. The Jesuitshave been involved in the field of education for more thanfour hundred years. They have set up schools and collegesin almost every country and have earned the reputation ofbeing outstanding educationists all over the world. As Jesuiteducationist we need to reflect on the academic objectivesand the ethos of educational institutions to influence studentachievement, type of institute and its influence students'personal development and value system.FLACSIJorge RadicEncargado Proyectos Institucionales, Red Educacional IgnacianaChileFulton Hall Room 117¿Cuáles son las variadas críticas de calidad de un centro escolar?¿Qué resultados debe tener un colegio de la Compañíade Jesús, para ser llamado un centro de calidad? ¿Cómopodemos orientar un trabajo de calidad, desde un modelode gestión que responda a los rasgos identitarios de uncentro ignaciano? As the legal educationalsystem in Northern Belgium (Flanders) requires that schoolsaccept all applications without any restriction, we werefaced with a major problem that shook the foundations ofour pedagogical system and of our cultural and religiousidentity. Our teachers and board were not prepared. Afterseveral years of trouble and confusion, in 2005 a clear andnew vision on the multicultural management was developed. In a few years the original threat and the paralyzing fearwere transformed in hope and strength. The problem hadbecome a challenge. Recent research on the educationalresults and on the religious identity of the school (teachers, pupils, board) clearly establishes the positive turn the schoolis taking. It is now becoming one of the rare good-practiceexamples in the difficult field of multicultural school managementin Flanders. The workshop describes the mainfeatures of the actual management and shows the results ofrecent research.32
