Its intention was to unifyall alumni(ae) of all Jesuit educational institutions throughtheir local, regional, national and international organizationsin one common apostolic effort. Through the historyof WUJA, there has been seven World Congresses. 1956 inBilbao, Spain; 1967 in Rome, Italy; 1986 in Versailles, France;1991 in Bilbao – Loyola to commemorate the 500 anniversaryof the birth of Saint Ignatius. The following congresseshave been held outside Europe, in the year 1997 in Sydney,Australia; in 2003 at Kolkata, India. The seventh Congresswas held in 2009 in Bujumbura, Burundi. The Eight Congresswill be in Me<strong>del</strong>lin, Colombia between 14 and 18 ofAugust 2013. The Ninth Congress will be in the USA in2017. The objectives of WUJA are: 1- Preserve and developbonds of friendship, communication and solidarity amongalumni/ae throughout the world; 2- Encourage alumni/aeto co-operate actively with the Society of Jesus in its variousmissions: particularly in education, spiritual life, communityservice and social justice and 3- Inspire alumni/ae to implementthe education, which they were given, based on Christianhumanism and Ignatian spirit, above all so that they playtheir part, through their personal life and their social action,in building a world where people can fulfill themselves withcomplete dignity.La Red ignaciana de apoyoal Derecho a la educaciónLucia Rodriguez DónateCoordinadora <strong>Programa</strong> Acción Pública Fifya,Federación Internacional Fe y AlegríaEspañaFulton Hall Room 117En noviembre de 2008, un grupo de 50 personas comprometidascon la labor apostólica Ignaciana y Jesuita se reunióen Madrid – España para compartir su experiencia de trabajode apoyo en varios ámbitos así como para valorar la posibilidadde llevar a cabo un trabajo en red a nivel internacional.Esta reunión supuso el punto de partida de lo que actualmentese conoce como GIAN, Global Ignatian AdvocacyNetwork. Las distintas áreas en las que se divide el GIANson: Ecología, Paz y Derechos Humanos, Gobernanza deRecursos Naturales, Migraciones y Derecho a la Educación.Estas cinco redes están compuestas por instituciones Jesuitasde todo el mundo entre las que se incluyen centros sociales,universidades, centros pastorales y escuelas. El GIAN pretenderesponder a la llamada que se hizo en la CongregaciónGeneral 35 para una mayor implicación e influencia en elmundo que nos rodea, es decir, para "tender puentes entrericos y pobres, estableciendo vínculos en el terreno de laincidencia política para la colaboración entre aquellos quedetentan el poder político y aquellos que encuentran dificultaden hacer oír sus intereses" (Decreto 3, N. º 28). En estetaller se presentará específicamente la propuesta de trabajo <strong>del</strong>a Red Ignaciana para el Derecho a la Educación. El objetivode esta red consiste en reunir obras de la compañía quehacen apoyo por el derecho a la educación a nivel nacional ylocal para desarrollar acciones conjuntas y presionar internacionalmenteen las políticas públicas para conseguir unaeducación básica y continua para todas las personas. Enel taller se presentará el trabajo realizado hasta ahora por lared y la planificación futura abriéndose un espacio para eldebate entre los asistentes invitando a los asistentes y suscentros educativos a sumarse a la red. 41
