(Bg. 9.4,5)Actually we are all spirit souls and are intended toassociate with God in the spiritual sky where thereare innumerable spiritual planets and innumerablespiritual living entities. However, those who are notfit to live in that spiritual world are sent to this materialworld. This very idea is expressed by Milton inParadise Lost. Although spirit soul, we have voluntarilyaccepted this material body and by acceptingit have also accepted the threefold miseries of materialnature. Exactly when we accepted it and how weaccepted it cannot be traced out. No one can traceout the history of when the conditioned soul firstbegan accepting these material bodies.At present Darwin's theory of the evolution oforganic matter is very prominent in institutions ofhigher learning, but there is information given in thePadma Puriirw and other authoritative scriptures ofthe living entities' spiritual evolution from onebodily form to another. This Puriirta informs us thatthere are 8,400,000 forms of living entities, 900,000of which live within water. There are 2,000,000species amongst plants and vegetables alone.
