14 Elevation to Krqa Consciousnessmakes even the enjoyment of impersonal Brahmanas insignificant as a drop of water in comparison tothe ocean.Every living being desires the topmost level ofenjoyment in this material world, and yet everyoneis unhappy here. This unhappiness is present on allthe higher planets, despite a longer lifespan, higherstandards of enjoyment and comfort. That is due tothe law of material nature. We can increase theduration of life and standard to the highest capacity,and yet by the law of material nature we will beunhappy. The reason for this is that the quality ofhappiness which is suitable for our constitution isdifferent from the happiness which is derived frommaterial activities. The living entity is a minuteparticle of the superior spiritual energy of the Lord,which is sac-cid-iinanda-vigraha, and therefore he hasthe necessary propensity for joy which is spiritual inquality. Unfortunately for him, he is trying vainly toattain his enjoyment from the foreign atmosphereof material nature.A fish that is taken out of the water cannot behappy by any arrangement on land. He must besupplied with water. In the same way, the minutesac-cid-iinanda living entity cannot be really happythrough any amount of planning conceived by hisillusioned brain in this material universe. He musttherefore be given a different type of happinesswhich is spiritual in essence. Our ambition should beaimed at enjoying spiritual bliss and not this temporaryhappiness.
