What you should knowThis data sheet does not constituteor serve as a substitute forthe user’s own assessment of therisks of using this product in theworkplace. It is the purchaser’sresponsibility to ensure that thedate given in this sheet is broughtto the attention of anyone intheir employ who are to handleor use this product. The advicegiven herein applies only whenthe product is used for the statedapplication.Construction (design and management)regulations:The following information isprovided to assist clients, designers,planning supervisors andcontractors in the discharge oftheir respective duties under theConstruction (Design and Management)Regulations 1994.For the purposes of formulatingthe Health and Safety Plan or File,it should be noted that the productis described as YTONG-fix P (thinjoint mortar).YTONG-fix P (packed in 25 kg bags)is delivered to site by road vehicles,for which suitable access andegress should be available. Wheresuch access and egress is notavailable, deliveries will be madeto the nearest available suitablelocation, subject to agreement withthe client.Storage: YTONG-fix P bags may bestacked on suitable hard and levelsurfaces to a maximum height of2 bags. If bags are palletised theyshould not be stacked more than 2pallets high. Consideration shouldalso be given to the handling equipmentto be employed on site asto its suitability for the terrain andits safety limits in respect of load.Hand operated pallet trucks aregenerally not suitable unless palletsspecific for this purpose areemployed and loads do not exceedthe limits of the pallet truck or itsoperator(s) in handling the load.Care should be taken whenopening packs that are wrappedor banded, to ensure that itemsdo not fall or otherwise endangerpersons handling or near them. AllYTONG-fix P bags are polythenelined and are either coded or dated,and the YTONG-fix P should beused within 6 months of the date ofmanufacture. All waste packagingmaterials should be disposed of inaccordance with local regulations.Handling: YTONG-fix P bags shouldbe handled in accordance with theManual Handling Regulations 1992(as amended). This concludes thatthere is a high risk of injury to individualsrepetitively handling loadsin excess of 25 kg manually. Whereindividuals are required to repetitivelymanually handle loads of 25kg or more, mechanical handlingequipment should be employed toreduce risk of injury. Considerationshould also be given to the handlingequipment to be employed(see Storage above).All persons are reminded that asuitable and sufficient assessmentof risks must be made of all tasksto be carried out in accordancewith the relevant Statutory andRegulatory requirements.
