Ytong Energy+Unique aerated concretefor solid and highlyenergy-efficient building

Ytong Energy+:the ultimate sustainable building blockYtong Energy+ is a new aerated concrete block with unsurpassed insulatingproperties. It is used to construct supporting inner and outer walls. The YtongEnergy+ block has a high-compression supporting inner layer, a core withunequalled insulating properties and an extremely robust outer layer, whichtogether guarantee a strong construction. All in a single, solid application.Ytong Energy+ blocks are manufactured in full compliance with the strictEuropean housing energy performance regulations that will apply as from 2020.With Ytong Energy+, Xella sets thenew standard for energy-efficient,solid building: supporting aeratedconcrete blocks with unequalledinsulating properties that, whenapplied 40-50 centimetres thick, have extremely high insulatingvalues (lambda value λ 0.06 w/mK).This makes it possible to constructhighly energy-efficient and, inaccordance with EuropeanCommission requirements, evenenergy-neutral houses. Housesof which the outer walls are builtfrom one and the same buildingblock and without the use ofadditional insulating materials.Robust and InnovativeYtong Energy+ consists of threelayers:a supporting inner layer madefrom Ytong aerated concrete(density 340 kg/m 3 ), 15.5centimetres thick;a core made from highly insulatingYtong Multipor insulationmaterial (density 115 kg/m 3 ),18 or 28 centimetres thick;a building shell made fromYtong aerated concrete (density340 kg/m 3 ), 6.5 centimetresthick.During production the three layersare moulded into a single, robustblock with a thickness of 40 or50 centimetres (depending on thethickness of the Ytong Multiporinsulation layer). This productionmethod is both innovative andunique and is ISO 14025-certifiedas an environmental managementsystem.SustainableYtong Energy+ is not only highlyenergy-efficient, it is also highlysustainable. In all stages of itslife cycle: during the extraction ofbase materials, during production, while being used and finally whenfully recycled.Inside:Ytong15,5 cmdensity340 kg/m³Middle:Ytong Multipor18 of 28 cmdensity115 kg/m³Outside:Ytong6,5 cmdensity340 kg/m³2 Ytong Energy+

The block consists exclusivelyof sand, lime and cement -natural, abundantly availableraw materials that are obtainedfrom responsibly managedextraction sites. The production process createsvery little CO 2 emission. Mostenergy is consumed in hardeningthe product by means ofsteam, and even then technologykeeps energy consumptionto an absolute minimum.Once manufactured, the blockscan be transported and usedefficiently. The blocks retain their propertiesduring the entire lifespan ofa building; they never lose theirenergy-efficiency values. When a building is demolished, the blocks can be used again forthe manufacture of new aeratedconcrete.AdvantagesYtong Energy+ makes complexmaterial combinations in constructinghighly insulating (solid)outer walls unnecessary. Theblocks make it possible to constructflawless, high-performancebuildings of the future up to twostoreys high in a single action withone and the same building block(average compressive strength:2,6 N/mm 2 ).The advantages one by one:extreme insulating capacitysolid block made from one andthe same materialno additional insulation materialrequiredstable and strongconnections guaranteed coldbridge-freequick and simple, so less risk offlawsYtong Energy+ Cradle to Cradle CertificationThe construction industry is irreversibly turningto the use of sustainable materials. Ytong Energy+fits in seamlessly with that ambition. The blockshave been Cradle to Cradle certified by the EPEA(Environmental Protection and Encouragement Agency) in Hamburg, the company of founders doctor Michael Braungart and WilliamMcDonagh. At the core of this philosophy lies the ambition to chartthe extent to which products contribute towards a better (living)environment. This is done by documenting and assessing all of thecomponents of which they are made. Cradle to Cradle therefore fartranscends the mere analysis of a product’s life cycle and guaranteesarchitects and building companies that Ytong Energy+ blocks have nonegative impact on the environment, whether before, during or afterbeing used.less materials, so orderlinessat the construction siteless costsAdvantages for occupants andusers:extremely effective heatinsulationheat accumulation and humidityregulationhealthy and comfortable indoor FinishingclimateWalls constructed from Ytongfire safety (fire class A1)Energy+ blocks are easy to finish.no flammable insulationThey can be plastered with anymaterialssuitable aerated concrete plasteringsystem.
