Two major focus areas of the Energy Branchare efficient and sustainable buildings and power and energy systems. To improve energy efficiency atArmy Installations, the Energy Branch works with the individual installations to improve the flow ofenergy systems (e.g., HVAC, electricity, gas) throughout its facilities. The improved energy flow reducesthe amount of energy that is required to heat, cool, and light these installations.5.5.6.2 Army Energy ProgramSimilar to the FED, the Army Energy Program develops and implements programs related to key energydirectives (i.e., federal laws and statutes, executive orders, DoD guidance, and Army guidance). Insupport of these directives, the Army Energy Program provides descriptions, guidance, and informationabout funding sources for the individual initiatives established by federal and DoD energy directives. TheArmy Energy Program also provides training and workshops on federal and DoD energy policies,conservation best practices, and new energy efficient technologies. In addition, the Army EnergyProgram facilitates multiple renewable energy research and development efforts to meet the DoD’s goalof having 25 percent of its power supplied by renewable sources by 2025 xv .The Army Energy Program has provides several specialized energy programs and plans.
