2PRIMA 2013-WelcomeWelcomeDear Colleagues,It is a pleasure for me to write a few words of welcome on behalf of the scientificand organizing committees for the 2013 PRIMA Congress, which will take place <strong>at</strong>Shanghai Jiao Tong University in the vibrant city of Shanghai, China on June 24- 28,2013. PRIMA, the Pacific Rim M<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ical Associ<strong>at</strong>ion, was established in 2005 asan organiz<strong>at</strong>ion for promoting the development of m<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ical sciences in thePacific Rim region. Our most important activity is the PRIMA Congress, which is heldevery four years. Our inaugural event took place in Sydney, Australia in 2009.The 2013 PRIMA Congress promises to be an exciting event, with world-class plenarylectures and public speakers. In addition there will be 23 special sessions ormini-symposia in a broad array of topics in the m<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ical sciences, withparticipants from all over the Pacific Rim. Our host for this event is Shanghai JiaoTong University, and they have done a wonderful job with the local arrangements.Aside from the excellent scientific program, the Congress will be a uniqueopportunity for participants to establish contacts throughout the Pacific Rim.
