Health is a f<strong>und</strong>amental human need.<br />
The Biomedical Engineering interdisciplinary<br />
master degree programme,<br />
which is offered by <strong>the</strong> <strong>FH</strong> <strong>Aachen</strong> in<br />
cooper<strong>at</strong>ion with <strong>the</strong> Research Centre<br />
Jülich, as well as selected intern<strong>at</strong>ional<br />
universities and research institutes, is a<br />
response to this need employing st<strong>at</strong>e-of<strong>the</strong>-art<br />
methods.<br />
It combines quantit<strong>at</strong>ive, analytical<br />
and integr<strong>at</strong>ive methods from <strong>the</strong> molecular<br />
level up to <strong>the</strong> complete organism.<br />
This spectrum of methods broadens<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>und</strong>erstanding of basic biological<br />
processes and makes possible an innov<strong>at</strong>ive<br />
approach to <strong>the</strong> prevention, diagnosis<br />
and tre<strong>at</strong>ment of disease.<br />
The masters degree programme<br />
prepares gradu<strong>at</strong>es to transfer and apply<br />
engineering concepts to scientific and practical<br />
problems of biology and medicine.<br />
With a specialis<strong>at</strong>ion in one of five<br />
concentr<strong>at</strong>ions (artificial organs and<br />
cardiac and vascular technology, biomechanics,<br />
biophysics and medical physics,<br />
chemical sensor technology, and biosensor<br />
technology) in addition to medical<br />
inform<strong>at</strong>ion technology, gradu<strong>at</strong>es can<br />
choose to enter <strong>the</strong> medical technology<br />
industry or start <strong>the</strong>ir own company,<br />
or <strong>the</strong>y can make a career in scientific<br />
research.<br />

in <strong>the</strong> area of modern technology,<br />
in future <strong>the</strong> demand for ever betterqualified<br />
medical engineers will only<br />

Bachelors Degree Programme immersion<br />
in subject-specific knowledge and deeper<br />

courses take place exclusively in English,<br />
