The prototype at SimodecAt Simodec, visitors were able to discover the prototypeof the A300 machine designed to anodisealuminium. It was on this prototype that the variousprocesses were validated and on which the first customertests were carried out. “This equipment hasenabled us to validate and improve the end product; the production machines also benefit fromnumerous improvements compared with the prototype,”explains Mr. Renggli. Ergonomics have beenimproved and the look of the assembly has beenredesigned in line with the new Tornos MultiSwissrange. Of course, the general principle and the effectivenessof the treatment are identical to the productionmodels in every regard.Long production runs of aluminium parts…This equipment can handle the production of someten million parts per year. It is primarily aimed at longproduction runs of those aluminium parts mainlyproduced in the automotive sector. Brake pistons areone such example of a typical application perfectlysuited to the Cyklos A300 which offers great flexibilityin anodisation treatment (thickness, parts, etc.).The chemical treatment processes required for eachpart number is stored in the automatic control systemand then chosen according to requirements with lessthan a 30 minute delay between each part numbertreated. The buckets must be adapted to the partnot only so that they can be correctly held in placeduring the rotation process, but also to guaranteethe uniformity and reproducibility of the treatment.…and excellent quality resultsThe quality of the treatment is also one of the distinguishingcharacteristics of the A300 machine. Theprocess implemented by the Cyklos company guaranteesa uniformity of treatment of +/-2 micronswith no fault in treatment either on the inside or theoutside of the part. In classic processes the parts areoften immersed vertically and almost statically, so theuniformity of treatment obtained thus often exceeds+/- 5 microns and some internal areas may have faultsin (absence of) treatment caused by trapped bubblesof air or gas released during the treatment. The rotaryprocess and the A300 equipment offer many advantageswhich the specialists at Cyklos invite you todiscover at the Tornos stand at Simodec.MARKETING HAS BEGUNCyklos SA is part of Tornos Holding ; the company’saim is to develop and market integratedsurface treatment solutions. Initial customers willmainly be bar turners in the automotive sector, however, Cyklos is in a position to quickly addressthe needs of other markets such as medical, watchmaking and electronics with treatmentssuch as metal deposition or deburring. It is herethat its innovative concept would offer significantbenefits. “We are confident that Cyklos will be acommercial success as we are offering an exceptionalproduct and we benefit from the supportof an equally exceptional team,” states FrancisKoller, Sales Director at Cyklos SA.Cyklos offers a uniform and repeatable processing for the following reasons : each part followsthe same path in the liquid, bubbles are removed due to parts rotating, bath concentration andtemperature are automatically controlled, liquid remains homogeneous thanks to parts rotation, bath to bath contamination is minimum and electrolytic current non uniformities are averagedequally on each part.01 / 12 decomagazine 13
