No expense was spared for the efficient oil supply.Several pumps simultaneously supply different classesof purity of Swisscut Ortho NF-X, which is crucial formachine performance, to the lubrication points via differentcircuits.An integrated tape filter processes the cutting oil (averagevalue 50 μ). The main container holds 880 litres ofcutting oil. Another tank, which can hold approx. 240litres, supplies the hydrostatic bearings with Ortho NF-X,micro-filtered at 5μ.The MultiSwiss has two oil micro-filters. Thanks to anequally sophisticated piping system, one or another filtercan be quickly and easily replaced during operation,without having to halt operation. The oil pressure in themachine is up to 80 bar.The fact that all specialist lubrication functions in theMultiSwiss 6x14 are covered by just one mediumis also practical from a logistics point of view, butthere is also another, much more important reason.According to the applicable GMP guidelines (GoodManufacturing Practice), every process must now bedocumented and reproducible. This is why, for example,suppliers in the field of medical technology wantto hear of no more than a single machining fluidin use where possible. This means that “lubricantcocktails” are now no longer tolerated in the latestgeneration of machining centres. Depending on themachine, the workpiece may come into contact withcutting oil, hydraulic oil or other type of oil and in thecase of leaks with spindle coolant. For this reason,Tornos and Motorex have formed a synergy projectand defined the solution for the MultiSwiss 6x14 inOrtho NF-X ISO VG 15.In spite of maximum performance and Vmax technology,and thanks to modern additive technology,Motorex Ortho NF-X contains no ingredients that aresubject to labelling.Complex oil circuitNo less than 1120 litres of cutting oil circulate insidethe new MultiSwiss 6x14. The oil circuit is complexand travels through several filters. In addition, theMORE FREEDOM FOR INNOVATION“For the past three years or so, we have only been usingMotorex Ortho NF-X machining fluid in the Research andDevelopment department in Moutier. Thanks to continuouscooperation with Motorex, we have been able to gosignificantly further than before in the area of lubricationand cooling. This has been demonstrated by the productionof the MultiSwiss 6x14 in particular. We have never hadas much latitude as this in the areas of expertise alreadymentioned.
