We need yourhelp!The Dominican Literacy Center is in greatneed of women volunteers for its 2009-2010 session which begins in September.This program offers tutoring in speaking and readingEnglish to women in the Melrose Park area. It isunique in that it offers tutoring on a one-to-one basis(one tutor with one student).A time commitment of one and half hors per week isall that is necessary. Classes are held at the DominicanLiteracy Center which is located at 1530 RiceStreet (in Sacred Heart parish in Melrose Park).Four consecutive and informative training sessionswill be held on August 25, 27,31 and September 2.Each training session (held at the Dominican LiteracyCenter will begin at 6:30pm. All the boys hada great time while earning 57 merit badges all together.First year camper Josh Glorioso earned 5 merit badges;environmental science, art, wood carving, basketry,leather work and on top of that he earned his Totin’Chip. Even though the pool was closed for half the week;Patrick McGraw, Alex Orda and Mattew Grygo all earnedthe swimming merit badge and David Tekien and BenjaminVega both earned life saving. The Camping meritbadge, an Eagle required, was earned by Alec Sammarco, Paul Prosowicz, Ryan Liedke and Alex Orda. We alsohad our unit elections before we left for Owasippe. We have two new patrol leaders: Patrick McGraw(Panthers) and Mathew Baily (Eagles) and two new assistant patrol leaders: Peter Proctor (Panthers) and LukeGrygo (Eagles). Scoutmaster Clemente appointed Alec Sammarco as Librarian, Paul Prosowicz as Den Chief andAndrew Sammarco as Historian. Thank you to our adult leaders Ed Clemente, Mike McGinniss, Pete Clark, JoeClemente and Mary Clemente for volunteering their time and talents with us.The Knights of Columbus Mater Christi Ladies Auxiliary is sponsoring a DIAPER DRIVE to benefitthe clients of the Women Center. The Diaper Drive will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2009.Please bring disposable diapers size newborn, 4, 5 and 6 to the vestibule of the church after all theMasses between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
