CYTOLOGY>The laboratory shall have and must follow policies and procedures for retention and organization of records,reports, slides and blocks.805. EDoes the laboratory retain cytology reports for 10 years, slides for 5 years and cell blocks for 2 years or asrequired by local, regional, or national regulations?Cytology specimens include fine needle biopsies. Laboratories are encouraged to retain all material for aminimum of 10 years for cytology.806. EAre the slides and reports stored in orderly, cross-indexed files?807. EDoes the laboratory maintain written acknowledgment of all slides which are loaned to proficiency testing programs?808.
