Major Incident -STANDBYMajor IncidentDECLARED –Activate Plan/Major Incident -CANCELLEDMajor Incident– STANDDOWNThis alerts the NHS that a major incident may need to be declaredMajor Incident Standby is likely to involve the participating NHS organisations inmaking preparatory arrangements appropriate to the incident, whether it is a ‘bigbang’, a ‘rising tide’ or a pre-planned eventNHS Cumbria ACTION: Participating NHS organisations should be informed that theNHS Cumbria is on standbyThis alerts NHS organisations that they need to activate their plan and mobiliseadditional resourcesNHS Cumbria ACTION: Participating NHS organisations should be informed thatNHS Cumbria has declared a Major Incident and that they may also need to activatetheir own individual Major Incident Plans and start to mobilise additional resources.This message cancels either of the two above messages at any time.NHS Cumbria ACTION: Participating NHS organisations will be informed that NHSCumbria has cancelled either standby or declared messageThis message indicates that a Major Incident response is no longer required.All receiving hospitals are alerted as soon as all live casualties have been removedfrom the site.
