Video Connection OptionsThe DCT6400 offers the following video outputs:HDTV Component video, HDMI, <strong>or</strong> IEEE 1394StandardComposite video, S-Video, <strong>or</strong> RF coaxialTo determine the available inputs on your TV, check the manual suppliedwith the TV <strong>or</strong> the TV itself.Use the following guidelines to determine the best video connection f<strong>or</strong>your home entertainment system:• Component video (Y Pb Pr) – HDTV and standardThe Y Pb Pr connect<strong>or</strong>s on your DCT6400 provide componentvideo, which is the most widely supp<strong>or</strong>ted HDTV connection.• HDMI <strong>or</strong> IEEE 1394 – HDTV and standardHDMI and IEEE 1394 offer higher video quality than componentvideo. If your TV has an HDMI input, use the HDMI connections onyour DCT6400 instead of IEEE 1394. <strong>Mot<strong>or</strong>ola</strong> recommends usingHDMI cables less than 20 meters long.HDMI and IEEE 1394 are video and audio connections. If you useHDMI <strong>or</strong> IEEE 1394, no separate audio connection to your TV isrequired.HDMI is compatible with DVi. If your TV has a DVI input, you canuse an HDMI-to-DVI converter cable to connect to the DCT6400HDMI connect<strong>or</strong>.If you use IEEE 1394, on-screen graphics do not display.• S-Video – standard onlyIf your TV has an S-Video input, use S-Video. S-Video is thehighest quality standard-definition video output on the DCT6400.• Composite video – standard onlyIf your TV does not have an S-Video input, use the compositevideo (VIDEO) output.• RF coaxial – standard onlyIf your TV only has a coaxial RF input, connect it to the DCT6400RF OUT connect<strong>or</strong>.14
