Sustainability Report 2011In 2011, the “Arçelik (Beko) Suppliers’ Day” was hosted in China in order to improve communication across suppliersin Asia. 300 delegates from 200 companies in 7 countries attended this organization. A more comprehensive organizationis planned within 2012, which will also include suppliers in Turkey and Europe.Expectations from SuppliersIn addition to compliance with the product specificationsand quality expectations, and satisfaction of technical andorganizational requirements, we expect all our suppliers tooperate in compliance with global conditions of qualitymanagement system, environmental management systemand work ethic standards. We also encourage our suppliersto develop projects to improve their products and processes.With this purpose, we have organized Innovation Days withparticipation of our suppliers which have facilitatedimprovement in our products with the help of projectsdeveloped through these events.QualitySince its foundation, Arçelik A.fi.’s principle has been toprovide its customers with high-quality products which willsimplify and improve their lives. Operating in a frameworkthat values customer satisfaction and environmentalawareness, Arçelik A.fi. attributes its success to “productquality, superior sales power and effective post-purchaseservices”.We operate with the awareness that ensuring the quality ofour products relies on ensuring the quality of the materialswe procure from our suppliers. Therefore, we expect andencourage our suppliers to operate in adherence to ourunderstanding of quality.We expect our suppliers to develop a Quality ManagementSystem, maintain its continuity and make efforts to improveit. To what extent our suppliers manage to meet ourexpectations is examined and controlled by Arçelik A.fi.In this respect, results of internal and external examinationsand targets regarding the crucial supervision indicators ofprocesses which impact quality control are routinely tracked.Arçelik A.fi. also examines customer quality awards, auditingrecords, customer feedback reports, product standardaccreditations and management standard certificates duringthese controls.We expect from our suppliers to have precisemeasuring/testing devices to test the process from thesupply of raw materials to their shipping, to makemeasurements in accordance with quality plans and torecord them, to pass on the quality documents that guaranteeproduct qualification alongside the products. These materialsand quality documents are examined in the productionfacilities and they go through measurements, function andsafety tests in our high-tech laboratories with modern devicesby the professional quality personnel.Our suppliers should develop measurable quality targetsthat meet with the expectations of Arçelik A.fi. and conductmanagement evaluations which should comprise theoperation results that aim to trace the general performancein the process. The quality performance results of our localsuppliers are presented in the Supplier Portal on a monthlybasis.43
