SystemIntegrated Waste ManagementAn effective waste management appears to be one of themost efficient methods for the protection of natural resourcesat a time when those resources are constantly on decline. Thanks to the developments in recycling technology andpractices, waste management enables the use of materialsand raw materials with lower emission rates by reducingthe use of primary materials. Due to the reduction inenvironmental impacts and the efficiency increase inresource use, Arçelik A.fi. pays utmost significance to anintegrated waste management.Waste Arising from Factories in Turkey in 2011 (tons)The 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) constitutes themain character of Arçelik A.fi.’s integrated wastemanagement. The order of precedence in the practiceprocesses are evaluated as: avoiding the waste formation, reducing the amount of waste, recycling the waste orrecovering the waste as an energy resource while thewaste disposal is considered as the last option. The wastesarising from our activities are firstly classified, then gatheredat their source with regard to the type of waste andregulations, then transported with appropriate licensedvehicles, later to be recovered in licensed facilities andare finally disposed.
