USING THE GROUP SCAN MODEGroup Scan allows you to transmitand receive normally on your priority(working) channel, but between breaksin the conversation, the <strong>TX6200</strong> will scanand listen to several other channels. Thereceiver will continue to scan the otherchannels ONLY WHILE THERE ARE NOSIGNALS ON THE PRIORITY CHANNEL.If a signal appears on the prioritychannel it will override any signals beingreceived on any of the other channels. Inaddition, if you press the Push-To-Talkswitch at any time, the radio will transmiton the priority channel in the usual way.SETTING UP THE GROUP SCANTo setup your radio for Group Scan:1. Select the Group Scan modeby pressing the F key followedimmediately by the OS/GS key. ‘GS’is displayed.2. Program your Priority channel memorywith your preferred working channel.3. Program the required ‘other’ channelsinto your Group Scan memory.SCANNING IN THE GROUPSCAN MODETo scan in the Group Scan mode, brieflypress the SCAN key. A high beep will beheard, ‘SCAN’ will appear in the displayand the radio will begin scanning.NOTE: If there are no channels programmedin the Group Scan memory when you pressthe SCAN key, a low beep will be heard andthe command will be ignored.When scanning, the <strong>TX6200</strong> scans all thechannels programmed into the GroupScan memory, with the priority channelbeing scanned after every fourth channel(dealer programmable option, if yourequire different timing for your prioritychannel, please contact your dealer).• If your radio pauses on a busy channeland you don’t wish to listen to thatconversation, briefly press the orchannel selector key. The radio willskip over that channel and resumescanning from the next channel inthe sequence.• If a signal is heard on a scannedchannel, scanning will pause on thatchannel and remain there for as longas the channel is busy, and for 5seconds after the channel has cleared,as long as there are no signals onthe priority channel. During this timethe receiver will continue to checkthe priority channel for signals every2 seconds, resulting in a series ofsmall ‘breaks’ in the reception of the‘paused’ channel. If no signals areheard after 5 seconds, the radio willresume scanning.• If a signal appears on the prioritychannel at any time (even whenpaused on a scan channel) thereceiver will switch straight to thepriority channel and will stay therefor as long as the channel is busy.During this time you can transmit onthe priority channel in the usual way.Once there has been no activity onthe priority channel for 5 seconds, theradio will resume scanning theother channels.• To transmit on a non-priority channel,exit the scan mode, select the requiredchannel then talk in the usual way. Toresume scanning press the SCAN key.• To transmit on the priority (working)channel AT ANY TIME, simply press thePush-To-Talk switch while the radio isscanning. The radio will switch straightto the priority channel. When youhave finished your conversation andthere has been no further activity onthe priority channel for 5 seconds, theradio will resume scanning the otherchannels.• To go directly to the Priority channel,briefly press the PRI key. ENDING THE SCANTo cancel the Group Scan mode, brieflypress the SCAN key. A low beep will beheard and ‘SCAN’ will disappear fromthe display. The radio will return to thepriority channel.USING THE GROUP SCANAS A SECOND OPEN SCANThere may be applications where youhave no need for the priority channeland would prefer to have two Open Scanmodes with separate channel groups ineach. This would allow you to scan eitherchannel group without the interruptioncaused by monitoring a priority channel.Your <strong>TX6200</strong> can be Dealer programmedto convert the Group Scan function intoa second Open Scan mode. If you wouldprefer this feature over the presentGroup Scan option you should contactyour <strong>GME</strong> Dealer to arrange for thisfeature to be enabled.When the second Open Scan modeis enabled, the original Open Scanmode becomes Scan 1 while the newadditional Open Scan mode becomesScan 2. To select the required scanmode briefly press the F key immediatelyfollowed by the OS/GS key. ‘OS’ isdisplayed for Scan 1 and ‘GS’ for Scan 2.The two Open Scan modes are identicalin operation. To program and operateeach Open Scan mode refer to thesection earlier on ’Open Scan.’NOTE: Enabling or disabling the secondOpen Scan mode is not a user selectableoption. Once enabled by your Dealer, theadditional Open Scan mode becomes apermanent part of the <strong>TX6200</strong>’s features andreplaces the standard Group Scan function. Ifyou find later that you need the Group Scanfunction re-enabled, you will need to returnyour <strong>TX6200</strong> to your Dealer.WHAT IS SELCALLYour <strong>TX6200</strong> has a Selective Calling(Selcall) system that operates like atelephone. Your radio is pre-programmedwith its own unique Selcall Identificationnumber. If this number is called byanother radio, your <strong>TX6200</strong> will beep toalert you.If you do not want to hear any otheractivity while waiting on a channel, youcan push the QUIET key. The radio willthen remain quiet to all incoming signalsSELECTIVE CALLINGuntil your Selcall number is called.The <strong>TX6200</strong> will allow you to store upto ten of your most frequently callednumbers in memory and each numbercan be labelled with a 5-letter name foreasy identification.<strong>TX6200</strong> I N S T R U C T I O N M A N UA L PAGE 15
