Butfor research to be appreciated by governments, we have to work closely with them, both at thenational and regional levels in order to get policy support, increased R&D budgets, and help ensuresustainability.(Dr. Espaldon) Through the UPLB Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension, weare coordinating the university’s research program – not projects- with different departmentsand line agencies of the government. We are in charge of packaging research proposals based onour conceptual framework. The Philippines Department of Science and Technology has set asidesome funds for climate change adaptation in agriculture. The same case is true for the Bureau ofAgricultural Research under the Philippines Department of Agriculture. Even the Commission onHigher Education has allocated funds for research.
