College of Staten Island (CUNY) – First Year ExperienceLibrarian (Assistant Professor)Filed <strong>in</strong> Faculty, Jobs on January 10, 2012The Department of <strong>the</strong> Library, at <strong>the</strong> College of Staten Island, seeks applicants for appo<strong>in</strong>tment to atenure‐track faculty position as First Year Experience Librarian – Assistant Professor. This position isanticipated to beg<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> September 2012. The successful candidate will teach curriculum‐<strong>in</strong>tegrated<strong>in</strong>structional sessions and serve as <strong>the</strong> primary contact with <strong>the</strong> freshmen composition program ando<strong>the</strong>r academic/non‐academic programs that support <strong>the</strong> first year experience. The chosen <strong>in</strong>dividualwill: provide <strong>in</strong>‐depth consultation with students and faculty; collaborate with faculty to develop coursecontent; participate <strong>in</strong> collection development; actively assist <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> assessment to articulate <strong>the</strong>library’s impact on student learn<strong>in</strong>g; and offer support to <strong>the</strong> cont<strong>in</strong>uous improvement of <strong>in</strong>structionalprograms and practices. The First Year Experience Librarian will help shape new directions for <strong>in</strong>itiativesthat streng<strong>the</strong>n student learn<strong>in</strong>g and faculty development. S/He will provide proactive reference service,<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g chat reference, and assist <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> development of electronic <strong>in</strong>structional materials (onl<strong>in</strong>etutorials, subject web‐guides, etc.). The successful candidate will pursue an active and productiveacademic agenda through scholarly publication and grant writ<strong>in</strong>g, and will participate <strong>in</strong> professionalconferences. In addition, <strong>the</strong> First Year Experience Librarian will serve on department, college anduniversity‐wide committees, and should expect to work some even<strong>in</strong>gs and occasional weekend days.The Library’s collection along with its high quality reference and <strong>in</strong>structional services offer students andfaculty access to a wealth of <strong>in</strong>formation and resources that support <strong>the</strong> college’s curriculum. TheLibrary is located at <strong>the</strong> center of <strong>the</strong> south academic quadrangle of <strong>the</strong> campus, at <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong>Alumni Walk.
