Haynes, alongwith officers of <strong>the</strong> 17 Staten Island'sVeterans' Associations, makes sure vetsand <strong>the</strong>ir families receive attention,assistance and o<strong>the</strong>r services.Haynes believes veteran's associations arehere "to welcome home veterans and tooffer veterans' services." Althougheducation and o<strong>the</strong>r benefits have beenreduced s<strong>in</strong>ce World War II, he said "<strong>the</strong>government cont<strong>in</strong>ues to be helpful."Medical assistance is obta<strong>in</strong>able at <strong>the</strong> VAMedical Center, 1100 South Avenue,Bloomfield. Education services areprovided at <strong>the</strong> College of Staten Island,2800 Victory Blvd., Willowbrook.James Haynes III, Bay TerraceThe USIVO is available for <strong>in</strong>formation and it helps with paper work for disability benefits, loans and o<strong>the</strong>rneeds.
