Renovations, Architectural Awards, Dedications:Our Campus Undergoes Some ChangesArchitectural Design forthe Kip duPont BoatHoUse Wins PrestigiousAwardsRichard Conway Meyer, the Philadelphia architectwho designed our new boat house, has receivedfour major awards for his design. He was a 1989"Excellence on the Waterfront" Honor Award winner.The Washington, D.C., Waterfront Centerwhich awarded the prize was impressed with theboat house on two counts-one, its "fabulous design,"which it termed "inspired architecture."Second was the careful use of the site. RichardMeyer also won the silver medal for the boathouse in the Pennsylvania Society of ArchitectsAlA, 1989 Design Awards, and the Merit Awardfrom the Philadelphia Chapter of AlA in 1988.The American Society of ArchitecturalPerspectivists chose Richard's design for its 1987Honor Award recipient.Dedication of theRichard W. TrapnellAlumni HouseThe Richard W. Trapnell Alumni House was dedicatedin May in memory of the alumnus from theClass of 1936 who served for 35 years on the St.Andrew's Board of Trustees. Members of Dick'sfamily joined the Board of Trustees and Schoolfaculty for the dedication. The Alumni House,which houses the development, alumni, and publicationsoffices, is the former faculty house thatmany alumni will remember as the home of theHutton, Voorhees, Washburn or Higgins family.23
