Data for the subject country, <strong>China</strong>, is also providedfor reference.<strong>China</strong> and Korea command the largest global trade surpluses in order of importance, as shown.The largest global trade deficit countries are The United States, Germany, India, and Japan, in order ofimportance. The remaining country, Taiwan shows a more moderate trade deficit position. Korea’s tradesurplus position fluctuated upward during 2003-07. On the trade deficit side, however, the situation ismixed. While the trade deficit position of the United States and Germany widened during 2003-07, thetrade deficits gradually fell in India, Japan, and Taiwan.IV-11
