Walsh University is an independent, coeducational Catholic, Liberal Arts and Sciences Institution. Founded by the Brothers of Christian Instruction, Walsh University is dedicated to educating its students to become leaders in service to others through a valuesbased education with an international perspective in the Judeo-Christian tradition. President’s Message As we complete our 49th year, our 46th commencement, and my 8th year as president, we do so with a sense of profound gratitude—to God, the Brothers, our faculty and staff, and our devoted alumni. I have always said that the real test of the quality of an institution is the quality of its alumni. Our nearly 9,000 alumni excel in all sorts of professions. They excel in their servant leadership to their communities, their churches, and their families. As you read through this edition of the Walsh Times, you will see this demonstrated time and again. We’re about to launch the celebration of our 50th anniversary. As I look ahead to the planned events, the opportunities to reminisce, the reunions, the banners, billboards, video, songs, and memory book, I get excited. I know I won’t be here for the 100th anniversary, so I am going to make this one special. Plan ahead. Plan to attend a few events if you live fairly close. Plan to come back—bring your family if you choose—and see the unbelievable transformation of your alma mater. We’re inviting all the American Brothers to attend. We look forward to seeing you and sharing stories. Make this something special you’ll do this year. It’s a chance to relive a moment in time.
