AuGusT 2008 • ninth straight year for record-setting enrollment • Largest freshman class with 516 students • Launched newly designed Accelerated BSn program sEpTEmBER 2008 • Donor recognition ceremony for Klekotka Tennis Complex, eight lane track, baseball field, milazzo Soccer Field and Vasco Sports Athletic Field • Formal dedication of the Gaetano m. Cecchini Family health and Wellness Complex OCTOBER 2008 • 2008 Outstanding Alumni Awards to Darrell Woods (‘83) and Jacqueline manser (‘78) • Dr. George Duncan, former Walsh history Department Chair, honored with Lifetime Achievement Award • Joseph C. eaton (‘70) receives Distinguished Service Award NOVEmBER 2008 • Walsh selected as nAIA Champions of Character Institution • Women’s Volleyball- AmC Champions and nAIA national Tournament Qualifier • men’s Cross Country- mike Groholy named nAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete • Women’s Cross Country- Andrea Dininno advances to nAIA national Championships • Women’s Cross Country- Jackie misiak and Stephanie Sielski named nAIA Daktronics- Scholar-Athlete • Football- Brian Williams Jr. named first-team All-mid-States Football Association • Football- mark Sexton receives Joshua David Zimmerman memorial Scholarship DECEmBER 2008 • Women’s Volleyball- megan mcDonald earns AmC player of the Year and northeast Region player of the Year • Women’s Volleyball- Krista Singleton named ne Coach of the Year • Victoria S. Conley honored with Distinguished Service medal • Brother Robert Gonneville, FIC, Director General and Co-Founder of Terre Sans Frontières, receives prestigious Founders’ Award
JANuARY 2009 • Walsh unveils new look for the Cavalier mascot • Walsh named international village for International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Junior World Championship in July • Fifty students, alumni and staff travel to Washington D.C. for Inauguration of 44th president of the United States, Barack Obama • Thirty-eight Walsh students travel to Washington D.C. for Roe v. Wade rally • CACRep announces Counseling and human Development accreditation through 2015 FEBRuARY 2009 • phi Alpha Theta honor Society of history installs first chapter at Walsh • Second consecutive year nursing students earn highest pass rate in the state on the nCLX exam for traditional BSn programs • Walsh appoints two new Board of Directors members, Fr. James Sullivan, O.p., and msgr.
