Oneof the strongest areas ofbusiness for Cycle Centeris its pre-owned inventory, which allows them to offeradditional products suchas Harley-Davidson andYamaha.“We like to call it previously-enjoyedinstead of preowned,”Kenny joked. “Oneof my most important standardsis quality, and I lookfor something that I wouldtake home and ride myselfor take Corinne for a ride on.The quality standard has tobe there. Anything without itdoesn’t get sold to a customer.Being a family-owned andoperated store, Carlos and Iare here every day and wantto make sure our customersare happy with the product.”The pre-owned inventoryranges from items acquiredvia trade-in to bikespurchased from customers, and Kenny is always happyto talk with people aboutpotential trades.“We trade for just aboutanything here,” Kenny said.“That’s one of the uniquethings about us. Being a family-ownedbusiness allowsus to do that. I’ve traded fora Model T pickup, a BMWRoadster, cars, boats, vans,RVs, you name it.”Polaris is one of theirbest-selling brands, with utilityvehicles and ATVs beingthe most sought-after merchandiseat Cycle Center.“The ATVs and UTVsare important for people involvedin hunting and ranching, and we sell to a lot offolks for recreational use aswell,” Kenny said. “There’salso a big need for them forcommercial use, and we’vesold vehicles to UNT and theCity of Denton. There’s sucha wide range of customers forthese products, from businessto personal use.”As for motorcycle sales, the average Cycle Centercustomer age is 46, with themajority male, but the businesshas seen a significantup-tick in female customerspurchasing their first bike.“My mother has beena rider since she was 17years old, and I’ve seen thetransition of women riders,”Kenny said. “Before, theydidn’t really exist. They werealways on the back of a bike, but it’s amazing how manywomen want their own bikenow. It’s definitely an up-andcomingmarket, and it’s greatto see that transition.”The highly-cyclical marketof jetskis is just beginningto take off for 2013 as temperaturesrise, Kenny said, with personal watercraftbeing a family-favorite oftheirs. Corinne first met herfuture husband at Lake Texomaeleven years ago, whereshe tried to throw him off ajetski. They were married in2008.“The market for jetskis isvery weather-related,” Kennysaid. “It’s got to be hot.Corinne and I really enjoythem and get to go out andplay with them on the lakeevery summer. We’re definitelyenthusiasts with jetskisand pretty much everythingelse we have to offer in here.”For those who thinkpricing or financing may beout of reach, Kenny said thatpeople would be surprised bythe abundance of manufacturer’soffers, which include0-percent financing, rebates, and incentives, as well as theease of financing throughlenders.“We definitely want toshow our customers that itcan be financially attainable,”Kenny said. “We offerfinancing here at the store, and have about 15 differentlenders we can go throughto make it affordable. Thereare some great financingoptions right now, and banksare lending money. We reallytry to keep the moneylocal, though, and have beenfinancing more and morepurchases through First StateBank and First United Bank, both in Denton.”For those purchasinga motorcycle, the customerservice doesn’t end after thesale, though, as Cycle Centersponsors a local riding group– the Twisted Riders – whichwas formed over two yearsago and now has over 200members.“There are actually lotsof riding groups here locally,”Kenny said. “For theTwisted Riders group that wesponsor, there’s no membership,no dues, no anything. We meet here at the store andwe ride. We have dinner ridesevery other week and usuallya weekend ride.”Those interested CycleCenter’s riding group can visitwww.thetwistedriders.comto get updates, detailed roadmaps, and more information.“Our number one thingis safety.
