Program for the Elimination of Cancer Disparities (PECaD) to advance our mission in our target geographic areas — St. Louis City and north St. Louis County, East St. Louis and St. Clair County in Illinois, and the southeastern Missouri Bootheel. The accomplishments described in this report related to community education and outreach, research and training – our key program areas – have expanded our impact, reach and potential to reduce cancer health disparities in our region. 6
LEADERSHIP UPDATES Disparities Elimination Advisory Committee Overview Program for the Elimination of Cancer Disparities (PECaD) Our community advisory committee, the Disparities Elimination Advisory Committee (DEAC), serves as our executive body. The DEAC is chaired jointly by an academic representative and a community representative. Our leadership structure also includes our Internal Scientific Leadership Team, which has community representation as well. The Leadership Team works to translate and mold recommendations and insights from our DEAC into programmatic approaches for our research, community outreach and training programs. Both the DEAC and the Internal Scientific Leadership Team work closely with community partners and our official cancer community partnerships to shape our cancer site-specific programmatic strategies.
