2 OpenVMS Cluster Concepts To help you understand the design and implementation of an OpenVMS Cluster system, this chapter describes its basic architecture. 2.1 OpenVMS Cluster System Architecture Figure 2–1 illustrates the protocol layers within the OpenVMS Cluster system architecture, ranging from the communications mechanisms at the base of the figure to the users of the system at the top of the figure.
