Sheron, Jr., UndersheriffMay 2012Genesee County LegislatorsOld Courthouse7 Main StreetBatavia, New York 14020Dear Legislators:On behalf of the dedicated men and women of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Iproudly submit to you the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office 2011 Annual Report.During 2011, members of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office worked daily in support ofour mission to enhance the quality of life for Genesee County residents. Towards thatgoal, staff of the Sheriff’s Office worked closely with other criminal justice and supportagencies within the county to enhance public safety and corrections. We took a zerotolerance position with regard to underage drinking and unlawful possession of alcohol,and deputies charged 174 persons with DWI. It was a busy year with deputiesresponding to 21,540 calls for service, excluding traffic stops, which reflects anapproximate 26% increase over 2010.The Jail Bureau saw a significant increase in the average daily male population atseventy-one (71) compared to sixty-eight (68) in 2010, and the average daily femalepopulation remained constant at nine (9) as compared to ten (10) during 2010.The Emergency Dispatch Center logged in a total of 54,134 consolidated calls for service,of which 30,335 were 9-1-1 calls. This reflects an approximate 3% increase over 2010.I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Genesee County Legislature andCounty Administration for their continued support of the Office of Sheriff and public safetyin Genesee County.Sincerely,Gary T.
