The Jail Bureau of the Sheriff’s Office has theresponsibility of meeting the Department’s Missionconcerning the corrections function.<strong>County</strong> Law, Article 17, Section 650 acknowledges the Sheriff asan Officer of the Court; Correction Law, Article 20, Section 500Cdesignates the Sheriff as custodian of the <strong>County</strong> Jail.
